Wellness

We are proud to present to you the first edition of our arts and
humanities in medicine magazine Scribbles in Scrubs!

Our vision for this project is for it to be a wellness enhancing
activity and an outlet for creative expression for and by our
residents. We were so happy to see the wonderful entries our
colleagues have submitted for this issue, all done in the midst
of their busy schedules.

Seeing our pediatric and medicine-pediatrics residents engage
and participate so enthusiastically, made it clear that the
wellness aspect of this project had began long before the first
release of the magazine.

We have to thank our program director Dr.Alba for supporting
this idea from the beginning, always believing in us and being
there for us.

Special thanks to Dr.Lawrence Friedman and Dr.Robin
Harrison, our faculty mentors for the Magazine for all their
support.

Since residency can be stressful at times, we have several structured programs designed to help our residents thrive.

Every PGY has a yearly class retreat to look back on the previous year and prepare for the next one
One of our associate program directors, Dr. Wiener, hosts a weekly Tuesday afternoon ‘tea time’ that is open to all residents
At the end of every rotation residents select an intern, resident, fellow and attending of the month to celebrate those that went above and beyond during a given period
As part of our academic half day curriculum we are proud to offer a longitudinal focus on wellness with voluntary homework assignments
Designated psychologist who works with the GME office and specializes in the training of Jackson residents and fellows, practicing physicians, medical students & counselors
We have a tranquility room available to all residents to take a little break when needed
