The Location

Holtz Children’s Hospital, the program’s hub, is a unique, primary/tertiary/quaternary pediatric facility serving the multiethnic urban population of South Florida along with regional and international referrals. The hospital complex and the adjacent University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine campus comprise one of the largest medical centers in the southeast. The University of Miami is one of the nation’s top 50 research universities, and the Miller School ranks #1 in NIH awards among all Florida medical schools.

Our pediatric residents receive their clinical training primarily at Holtz Children's Hospital, the stand-alone children's hospital affiliated with Jackson Memorial Hospital. Jackson is the largest public hospital in the United States and shares a campus with the University of Miami, Veterans Association, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Ryder Trauma Center in addition to many affiliated clinics and research centers. In the video, one of our Medicine/Pediatrics residents reflects on the benefits of training in such a diverse community and why he is proud to work at UM/Jackson.
