Resident Benefits

We are proud to offer a competitive and comprehensive benefit package to our residents and their dependents.

  • 2023-2024 salary:

    • PGY-1 $63,637

    • PGY-2 $66,161

    • PGY-3 $68,857

  • Academic Stipend: $2,000/per resident per year​ (released in a block sum mid-September)

  • Meal Card: $1,350/per resident per year with 25% discount at JMH cafeteria

  • Free meals for on-call residents

  • Step 3 Reimbursement ($895)

  • Reimbursement for ACLS, BLS, PALS, ATLS

  • Emergency pay of $450/day for hurricane coverage during JHS emergency period

  • Option to moonlight in newborn nursery (PGY1/2/3) and NICU (PGY2/3) for $80/hr

  • 28 vacation days per resident per year (4 weeks divided into two 2-week blocks)

    • An extra vacation week during PGY1 for a total of 5 weeks vacation​

  • 14 sick days per resident per year

  • 1 wellness day per resident per year

  • Medical and dental insurance at no cost to the resident

  • Disability insurance at no cost to the resident

  • Life insurance - $50,000 at no cost to the resident

  • Discounted Parking $5.54 bi-weekly

  • 3 new lab coats and scrubs per resident per year

  • Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR): resident union which advocates on behalf of the residents regarding salary increases (including convincing Jackson to reimburse for Step 3!), provides conference reimbursement and allows members to become involved in various committees (advocacy, outreach, women in medicine)

  • Program provided learning resources:

    • AAP Membership including access to PREP questions

    • Hopkins Modules (ambulatory curriculum)

    • Yale Curriculum (general pediatrics modules)

    • Faculty-led board preparation curriculum

    • Reimbursed up to $500 for board study course
