The Program
The Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine / Jackson Memorial Hospital is a 3-year program, accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education, leading to certification in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. The central idea of the Pediatric Residency Program at UM/JMH is one of growth and development. We believe that a physician becomes a well-trained pediatrician gradually and by encompassing all 3 areas of academic medicine - research, teaching, and clinical service. At the heart of our training is a focus on developing well-rounded physicians who embrace the core values of every Holtz Children’s Hospital employee: integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
Holtz Children's Hospital is a quaternary referral hospital that receives pediatric transfers from neighboring hospitals as well as the Caribbean, Central, and South America. Holtz is a “resident-run” program – all services are teaching services and residents are involved in the care of every patient in the hospital.
