After Residency
The primary goal of the UM/JMH Pediatrics Residency Program is to train successful future pediatricians by equipping them with the training and skills while meeting their personal career goals. Our graduates proceed to a wide variety of jobs in both primary care and specialty fields. Listed below is a summary of that information.
Mentorship:
-
Interns are paired with a faculty mentor and periodic meetings are held to evaluate progress and provide guidance with option to add additional mentors or transition to a mentor within selected specialty later on
-
Interns are also matched with an upper level “resident buddy” upon matching who can provide support, advice, and answer questions during the transition from medical school to residency
Independent Practice:
-
Recent graduates have obtained academic hospitalist medicine positions, outpatient pediatric care positions, and urgent care/EM positions both locally and across the country
